In April 2023, shortly after launching RoRo’s Retro, I discovered the Maker to Market class at West Houston Institute. This transformative class led me to join the Creative Small Business program, which provided essential skills in branding, communication, and support through workshops and networking with fellow small business owners. I began this journey after leaving my job to care for my mother. The program offered invaluable tools such as public speaking coaching, mentor access, and MakerSpace training, all crucial to our growth. The one-on-one training and the HOUMade Market experience have been pivotal to our startup’s success. Connie Leon, the Program Coordinator, and her team have been exceptional, providing resources and opportunities beyond what we imagined. We are incredibly grateful for the doors this program has opened for RoRo’s Retro.
